Sarah Matchett

Sarah is the head coach and owner of Betera Coaching.  She is a USAC Level 1 Expert Coach and has been coaching endurance athletes for over 20 years.   Coach Sarah fully understands how difficult it can be to progress in the sport of cycling without the knowledge, guidance and expertise of someone who has successfully move through the ranks. With enthusiasm, drive, and personal attention, her goal is to smooth the progress of your development.  


Nick Able

Nick is a USA Cycling Level 3 Coach, and an active racer in both road and cyclocross.

Nick can help you overcome weak spots in your riding, regardless of experience or ability. If you’ve a nagging urge or desperate desire to achieve something in cycling, he can help no matter how big or how small.


Dr. Reuben Howden

Reuben comes to Betera Coaching with 30 years experience in training and racing. Reuben first started coaching while working as an Exercise Physiologist for the British Cycling Federation in the late 90's. He currently holds a Ph.D. in Human Physiology and teaches Exercise Physiology at UNC Charlotte.


Mark Peterson

Coach Mark is a retired Naval Pilot turned bicycle racer & Instructor.  He has raced for more than 30 years in USCF, Road Race, Crits, Time Trials, and Triathlon events. Mark got involved with indoor cycling in the early 80’s as a means to continue training during the winter months in the upper Mid West.   Mark continues to race nationally in Time Trial events as well as teaching  classes in several different studios in the Lake Norman Area. 


Christina Dannen, Nutrition Partner

Christina Dannen. attended the University of Arkansas graduating in 2012 with a Bachelors degree in Dietetics.  In 2013, she completed her dietetic internship with Western Carolina University and went on to complete a Masters in Nutrition from Western Carolina University.
